Loretta Ann "Rita" Mead, age 71, of Mankato, died peacefully on Saturday, April 13, 2013, surrounded by her family at her home.

A Memorial visitation will be held 2-4 p.m. on Wednesday, April 17, 2013, at Mankato Mortuary.

Loretta was born on January 27, 1942, in Slayton to Loren and Lillian (Dhole) Mason. She was a 1960 graduate of Mankato High School. Loretta was united in marriage to David Mead on September 17, 1960, in Mankato. She was a homemaker for her family and also was employed with various businesses in Mankato. Loretta enjoyed baking, reading, and taking care of her family, especially her grandchildren.

Loretta is survived by her husband, David Mead; two sons, Michael (Kathy) Mead and James (Jackie) Mead, all of Mankato; three grandchildren, Thomas and Kristin Mead of Bloomington, and David Mead of Mankato; one sister, Judy (Gordy) Dayland of Peterson; one brother, Loren "Buck" (Mary) Mason of Mankato; also many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Susan and Sharon.
