Arlene Rose Burger, age 91, of Mankato, died Saturday, March 30, 2013, at Oaklawn Health Care Center in Mankato.

Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 5, 2013, at Resurrection Lutheran Church in Mankato, with Rev. Greg Lenz officiating. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday at Mankato Mortuary and will continue one hour before the service at church on Friday. Burial will be in Woodland Hills Memorial Park in Mankato. Memorials are preferred to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, MN Chapter.

Arlene was born on May 18, 1921, in Huntley. She was the daughter of Albert and Elsie (Melick) Arney. Arlene attended Huntley Public Schools and Mankato Commercial College. Upon her graduation, she worked for Tillisch Optical. Arlene was united in marriage to Melvin Burger in 1942. They were blessed with three sons, Donald, Lawrence, and Michael. The family lived in Worthington, St. James, and Mankato. Arlene worked in the phone sales department of Sears for fourteen years. She was an active member of First Christian Church, which later became Resurrection Lutheran Church. Arlene enjoyed sewing and participating in church activities.

Arlene is survived by two sons, Donald (Susan) Burger and Michael Burger; eight grandchildren, Kari, Kelly, Angela, Brian, Christine, Laurie, Kathryn, and Tammy; fourteen great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Melvin in 1991; son, Lawrence; and two sisters, Alberta and Grace.
