Thomas H. Browne, age 78 of North Mankato died, Saturday, August 3, 2013 at Oak Terrace Assisted Living in North Mankato.
At Tom's request no services will be held. A private burial will be held at a later date in Calvary Cemetery, Mankato. Mankato Mortuary is assisting the family.
Thomas Harlan was born December 26, 1934 to Gerald and Maurine (Heiser) Browne in Mankato. He served his country in the United States Air Force from 1957-1960. Thomas was united in marriage to Rita Mae Schneider on June 22, 1963. He worked as a bulk oil driver, a North Mankato Police Officer, and at the Kelly Standard Service Station. Thomas retired from the Mankato Post Office after 27 years as a letter carrier, where he was lovingly known as "Brownie the Mailman".
Thomas is survived by his children, Lee (Patti) Browne, Elaine (Brett) Sundell, and Mike Browne; his grandchildren, Matt Browne, Josh Browne, Emily Browne, and Lily Vaughan; brother, Doug Browne; sister, JoAnn Johnson; sisters-in-law, Nancy Schneider and Char Roberts; brothers-in-law, Fred Blankenberg and Mel Bryant; and neice, Suzette Johnson.
Thomas was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Rita Mae in 2012; parents Gerald and Maurine; sister, Gere (Bob) Baumgartner and Elaine Browne; brother, George Browne; brothers-in-law, Gus Johnson and Don Roberts; and nephew, Dick Baumgartner.
