MaryLou (Pearson) Graif, age 87 of Mankato, died Thursday, July 18, 2013 at Laurel's Peak with her family by her side.
Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church on Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. John Kunz officiating. A visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. and continue until the service. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Mankato.
MaryLou was born on March 27th, 1926 to Richard and Margaret (Delaney) Pearson in Mankato, MN. She lived and attended school in Mankato until 1944, when her family moved to Lake Wilson, MN, where she graduated from high school. She attended the College of St. Catherine and later earned a teaching degree from Mankato State College. MaryLou was united in marriage to John H. Graif on June 12th, 1948 and together they settled in Mankato, MN where they raised their 7 children. During those years, they were active members of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church. In 1980 they retired to Lake Havasu City, AZ. In 2006 they returned to Mankato, MN.
MaryLou was an active member of the Mankato Golf Club and she loved to play bridge with her bridge club girls. She enjoyed traveling the world with her friends and family. In their later years, MaryLou and John enjoyed attending Mass at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. She loved her children, grand and great-grand children; nothing brought her more joy than spending time with them.
MaryLou was survived by her husband of 65 years, John Graif; 6 children, Jim (Lois) Graif, Jane (Gary) Haefner, Joe (Mary) Graif, Jennifer (Mike) McGuire, Jackie (Dave) Taylor, Jay Graif; 19 grandchildren, Joe (Jill), Jill (Neal), Justin, Kim (Wayne), Matt (Jamie), Kelly (Tony), Peter (Sonya), Theresa (Andy), Michael (Annika), Ben, Julia, Ryan, Sean, Brady, Luke, Sarah, Dan, Charlie and Tommy; 12 great-grandchildren with 4 more arriving this fall; and brother, Richard Pearson and his 6 children.
MaryLou was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Margaret Pearson; daughter, Julie Kratzke; daughter-in-law, Laura Graif; and sister-in-law, Gwen Pearson.
