Betty Jean Jones, age 85, of Lake Crystal died Friday, July 5, 2013 at Mayo Clinic Health System " Mankato, surrounded by her family.

Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at Zion Lutheran Church, Lake Crystal. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m., Tuesday at Lake Crystal Mortuary and will continue one hour before service at the church on Wednesday. Interment will be in Minneopa Cemetery, rural Mankato. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.

Betty was born April 15, 1928 to Virgil and Elfreda (Williamson) Dunning in Minneapolis, MN. She grew up in Judson and graduated from Nicollet High School in 1946. She married Ellsworth "Dutch" Jones on September 18, 1947. Dutch died in an automobile accident in January of 1952. Betty married Buell Jones on October 22, 1954. Betty was a cook for the Lake Crystal Public Schools for over 40 years. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and its ladies aid. Betty delivered meals on wheels and enjoyed cooking, embroidery, playing cards, dancing, and spending time with family and friends.

Betty is survived by two daughters, Pam (Jim) Olson of Edina and Linda (Tom) Haag of Eden Valley; six grandchildren, David (Emily) Olson, Daniel (Portia) Olson, Jenny (Michael Popowski) Gehlhar, Jessie (Ivor Castelino) Gehlhar, Nathan (Cami) Haag, and Lucas Haag; two great-grandchildren, Will Olson and Ava Haag; special friend, Ellsworth Kelly; two sisters-in-law, Ruth Blank of Sioux City, Iowa and Mary Jane Rosenberg of Lake Crystal; and extended family.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her two husbands, Dutch and Buell; daughter, Shirley Gehlhar in 2007; and an infant son.
