Carl Arthur Wendt age 76 of rural Lake Crystal formerly of Mankato, died Friday, July 5, 2013 at his home surrounded by his loving wife and family.

Funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at Northview- North Mankato Mortuary 2060 Commerce Drive, North Mankato Minnesota. Visitation will be held from 4 " 7 p.m., Tuesday at Northview " North Mankato Mortuary and one hour before the service on Wednesday. Burial will be in Garden City Cemetery.

Carl was born May 14, 1937 to Arthur and Pearl (Schuder) Wendt in Mankato, He graduated from Mankato High School and enlisted in the Army in 1956 " 1955. He was recalled 1961 " 1962. Carl receives his Bachelor's Degree, Magna Cum Laude, at Mankato State University majoring in History and Science. He joined the Mankato Fire Department and worked his way to Lt. Captain and then fire Marshall for twenty years. Carl then became State Fire Marshall/Inspector for 13 years. He was a member of American Legion Post #11.

Carl married Lorene (Lorie) Mann February 27, 1960. They lived in Le Hiller, Mankato for six years then moved to west Mankato for 27 years, He moved to rural Lake Crystal in 1992. Carl's favorite things to do were motorcycle riding, reading, crossword puzzles, mowing his lawn. He also enjoyed the great outdoors where he lived. He had 37 years of lunching at the Kaiserhoff in New Ulm with his lovely wife. He loved spending time with his house kitty "Minnie".

Carl is survived by his wife Lorie; two sons Scott (Elizabeth) and Steven (Niki); two daughters, Julie and special friend Jeff Fritz and Carla; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sisters-in-laws; brother-in-laws and many cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Paul and Dorothy Mann; brother-in-law, James Mann.

Lorie would like to thank all their good friends at the Kaiserhoff, hospice, and all the friends for their support though this difficult time. A special thank you for little sister Mary who was there for her with all her support.
