Robert William Ginn, age 103, of Mankato, died Wednesday, July 3, 2013, at Oaklawn Health Care Center in Mankato.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, July 6, 2013, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Mankato, with Rev. John Kunz officiating. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery in Mankato. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. on Friday at Mankato Mortuary, and continues one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
Robert was born on February 24, 1910, in rural Guckeen, Faribault County, MN. He was the son of William and Josephine (Guckeen) Ginn. Robert was a 1928 graduate of Blue Earth High School. He was united in marriage to V. Florence Turnhoffer in Blue Earth on June 1, 1933.
Robert farmed in the Guckeen-Blue Earth area for 25 years. He also was employed for 17 years at the MN Swine Testing Station in New Ulm, retiring in 1975. Robert was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Mankato and was a Knights of Columbus member since 1928. He enjoyed crafts, dancing, reading, word puzzles, and playing cards.
Robert is survived by his three daughters, Ann (Gordon) Westermann of Mankato, Kay Tacheny of Elk Grove, CA, and Marylu (Ron) Anderson of New Ulm; nine grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Jan Ginn of New Ulm; sister-in-law, Henri Ginn of Kansas; also many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Florence in 2005; son, Richard Ginn on April 1, 2013; three brothers, John (Irene) Ginn, Francis (Mary) Ginn, and Stephen Ginn; and six sisters, Helen (Paul) Jenkins, Dorothy Dahl, Irene (Felix) Maday, Mabel Ginn, Mary Ginn, and Sr. Marietta Ginn.
