Burton Dean Sorgatz, age 78, of Lake Crystal, died Tuesday, July 2, 2013, at Oak Terrace Assisted Living in North Mankato.

Memorial Service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, July 9, 2013, at Zion Lutheran Church in Lake Crystal, with Rev. Steve Bohling officiating. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Monday at Lake Crystal Mortuary, and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimers Association.

Burt was born September 17, 1934, to John and Vera (Johnson) Sorgatz in Madelia. He graduated from Lake Crystal High School. Burt married Marlene Moon in 1955. They later divorced. On December 21, 1992, Burt was united in marriage to Nancy Williams in Fairmont. He worked for Komatz Construction and Hodgeman Construction in Fairmont. After retirement, Burt worked in carpentry with Alfred Risk in Elmore. Burt and Nancy lived 22 years in Elmore before moving to Lake Crystal in 2012. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, raising horses, and listening to music.

Burt is survived by his wife, Nancy of Lake Crystal; son, Mark (Candace) Sorgatz of Albert Lea; daughter, Tammy (Pat Flor) Kral of New Ulm; step-daughter, Jody (Mike) Johnson of Lake Crystal; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews; sister, Bernita Smith of Mankato; step-brothers, David Sorgatz of the Twin Cities and Dale Sorgatz of Amboy; and step-sister, Bonnie Barrett of Vernon Center.

Burton was preceded in death by his parents; son, Paul in 2009; grandson, Dawson Reim; and brother-in-law, Orville.
