Rose Marie (Jensen) Graupmann, age 86 of Mankato, MN, formerly of Hutchinson, MN, died Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at Pathstone Living in Mankato.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, June 30, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Peace Lutheran Church in Hutchinson, MN, with Pastor Gerhard Bode officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at First Lutheran Cemetery in Glencoe, MN.
Rosie was born on February 20, 1927, to Alfred D. and Mildred C. (Stetson) Jensen in Little Falls, MN. Rosie graduated from Little Falls High School and attended St. Cloud State University. She was employed by Waterman-Waterbury Co. of Minneapolis. One 4th of July, friend Eldora "Dody" (Graupmann) King took Rosie, the city girl, home to the family farm, where Rosie met Dody's brother, Hillard Graupmann. Rosie and Hillard were married on January 28, 1950, in Little Falls, MN. They had three children. They farmed together in Glencoe for many years. They were active in the local community and Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, which they helped to found. After retiring from farming, they moved to Hutchinson. There, they were members of Peace Lutheran Church.
She participated in Bible study, Ladies Guild, Extension " McLeod County, and Rip-and-Tear, a group of young women who gathered " at first " to do the mending and became life-long friends.
Rosie was a kind, gentle, and generous person. She loved and supported her family and was a friend to all.
She is survived by her children, Jane (Earl) Haarstad of Darwin, MN, Gail (Robert) Ihrig of Mankato, MN, and Paul (Julie) Graupmann of Jackson, MN; grandchildren, Shawn Haarstad of Norwood-Young America, MN, Tim Haarstad (Carla Bariotto) of Maple Grove, MN, Heidi Ihrig (Tim Wesely) of New York, NY, Alexandra Graupmann of Minneapolis, MN, Taylor Graupmann of St. Paul, MN; and great-grandchild, Benjamin Haarstad.
Rosie was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Dr. Warren D. Jensen; and husband, Hillard.
