Marjorie L. Pulis, age 83, of Mankato passed away peacefully Saturday, June 8, 2013 at Oaklawn Health Care Center surrounded by family.
Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Mankato with Rev. John Kunz officiating. Visitation will be held on hour before the service at the church on Tuesday. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Mankato. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the donor's choice. Mankato Mortuary in charge of arrangements.
Marjorie was born on November 7, 1929 in Williams, Iowa to LeRoy and Catherine (Gleason) Maubach. She graduated from Williams High School in 1946. She attended Ellsworth Junior College and graduated with an elementary education teaching certification in 1948. Her first teaching positions were at Dunkerton and Reinbeck Iowa.
She married Robert L. Pulis in 1950. They had two sons, Timothy and Michael. In 1952 they moved to Mankato, where she lived the rest of her life. Marge continued her teaching education at Mankato State College where she received her BA and MA degrees. Her lifelong teaching career continued in the area with positions at St. John Catholic School, Eagle Lake Elementary School and Hoover Elementary School all at the 5th grade level.
She enjoyed dogs, The National Enquirer and visiting with people. Give Marge a few minutes of your time and she would know your whole life story including who your friends and relatives were.
Marge is survived by her husband, Robert of Mankato; two sons, Timothy (Nancy Haag) of Mankato, and Michael (Norma) of North Mankato; granddaughter, Abby of Chicago, IL; grandson, James (Victoria) of Fort Leonard Wood, MO; three great-grandchildren, AJ, Iza, and Anatalia; sisters, Shirley (Bruce) Heath of Fort Collins, CO, and Sadie (Gerald) Meineke of Waukee, IA; sisters-in-law, Janice Helfenbein of Denver, CO, and Edna Maubach of Webster City, IA; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Dean Maubach and John Maubach of Blairsburg, IA.
Special thanks to all the care givers who provided Marge with much joy and comfort over the last few years.
