Melva Gene Glemming, age 89 of Mankato, formerly of Tower City, ND, died Friday, May 31, 2013 at Mayo Health Systems Hospital in Mankato.

Services will be held at 11:30 am, Sunday, June 2, 2013 at Northview-North Mankato Mortuary.

The family will also be honoring her life and her 90th birthday with an open celebration from 2-4 pm at Primrose with BINGO and soft serve ice cream on Tuesday, June 4th, 2013.

Graveside services will be held 3 pm, Wednesday, June 5th at Buffalo Cemetery in Buffalo, ND.

Melva was born June 4, 1923, near Malcolm, NE to Walter and Alma Pearson. She graduated in 1939 from Malcolm High School. She married Arnold Glemming on January 25, 1941. They made their home and farmed near Tower City, ND.

Melva was an active volunteer with Respite Care, Open Door and Foster Care. She was a 4-H Leader for many years and had been active in St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Sunday School and ALCW. She was a Life Member of Sons of Norway, the Eagles Club, and the Page, Buffalo and Tower City Senior Citizens. She enjoyed crocheting, taking trips to the casino with family and friends, playing cards, baking, cooking, sewing and traveling. Her passion was spending time with her family.

She wants her friends and family to remember her by her laughter, her ability to talk to anyone, her care for the elderly and children, her letter writing, her love for traveling and her kind heart.

Melva is survived by her seven children, Howard, Peoria, AZ; Arlin, Evening Shade, AR; Marvin (Deb), Omaha, NE; Wayne (Peggy), Horace, ND; Wanda, Lake Forest, CA; Nela, Colorado Springs, CO; Gayla (Kevin) Satre, Mankato, MN; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Lou Emmons, Lincoln, NE and nieces and nephews. She is preceded by her parents; her husband, Arnold; grandson Patrick; two brothers, Walter and Leroy; one sister, Joanne; aunt, Ruth; daughter-in-law, Gerry.
