Her beautiful hands at rest, Roxann "Roxie" Kay Larson, age 60, of Lake Crystal, passed peacefully into the Lord's hands, Monday, February 11, 2013 at Pathstone Living, Mankato.
A Celebration of Roxie's Life will be held at 11:00 a.m., February 22, 2013 at Zion Lutheran Church, Lake Crystal with Rev. Nancy Dreier, officiating. Visitation will be one hour before service. Lake Crystal Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be given to the donor's choice.
Roxie was born August 15, 1952 in St. Paul and was adopted by her joyous parents, Ray and LaRaine (Spencer) Larson on October 24, 1952. Roxie graduated from Lake Crystal High School in 1970. She attended Bemidji State College and Mankato State College and from Mankato Area Vocational Technical Institute with a general clerical certificate in 1973. She lived in Minneapolis and worked from Schaak Electronics until she moved to Arizona in 1985. While in Arizona she lived in Apache Junction and Chandler for 18 years. She worked for several technology companies, including St. Microwave Arizona Corp as an executive assistant, Signal Technology Corp, Rogers Corp, and NCS Pearson, Inc. until 2001 and then for temp agencies until returning to Lake Crystal in 2003. She worked at Grain Commerce and then for the First Presbyterian Church in Lake Crystal until health issues forced her retirement in 2007.
Roxie enjoyed traveling. While in high school she traveled to Paris, Switzerland, and Rome with a group from Good Counsel. She accompanied her parents on business trips, to the lake, Canadian hunting trips, Alaska, and many winter trips to Hawaii with them. She had enjoyed crafts, stamping, and card making, BUNCO, cooking, dining out, gardening, and especially the monthly dinners with her 1970 classmates and coffee time at the towers.
While living in Arizona she had many friendships, but especially enjoyed time with her close friends, Eileen, Janet, Nancy, and Sharon.
Lake Crystal she had been a member of Lioness, Garden Club, Study Club, and currently MNO Extension Club. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and its Rebecca Circle.
Roxie loved babies and was always a willing baby sitter for many friends and relatives. Despite many health problems Roxie never ever complained and always greeted everyone with a smile and cheerful greeting.
She was forever grateful to her niece, Shannon Juergens for her donation of a kidney in April 2012. She was loved by everyone who knew her and will greatly missed.
Roxie is survived by two brothers, Richard (Claudia) Larson of Lake Crystal Raymond (Mary) Larson of Sheboygan, WI; nieces and nephews, Kelly (Carl Newman) Larson of Bagley, MN, Eric (Lissa) Carlson, Christopher and Corbin Carlson all of LaCrosse, WI; Morgan (Dan) Sisson, Emily Sisson all of Burlington, WI; Evan (Karen) Larson and Libby of Dearborn, MI, Amelia (David) Zastava, Cole and Christian Zastava all of Whitefish Bay, WI; Eric (Monica) Thielhelm, Erica and Andres Theilhelm all of Grand Forks, ND, Paul Thielhelm of Milwaukee, WI; Shannon (Mike) Juergens, Grace LaRaine and Ethan Juergens all of Amboy, Shawn (Chelsea) Larson and Jackson and Spencer of Paonia, CO, Shayne Larson (special friend, Jennifer Beck) of Paonia, CO; several aunts, Wilma Spencer, Norma Abbott, and Bertha "BJ" Larson Kittleson all of Lake Crystal, Edith Meyer of Waite Park; special family "sister" friend, Sharon Hanson; and cousins.
Roxie was preceded in death by her parents, Ray on April 16, 2002, LaRaine on February 26, 2011 and extended family.
