Bryce Lindsay, age 88 of Mankato, died on Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at Pathstone Living in Mankato.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, January 28, 2013 at Centenary United Methodist Church in Mankato with Pastor Dean Wolf officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at a later date in Ft. Snelling National Cemetery. Memorials may be directed toward MSU-Mankato or Centenary United Methodist Church. Mankato Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.
Donald Bryce was born on February 2, 1924 in Fairfield, Iowa to Robert G. and Eva D. (Mandt) Lindsay. In 1942 he enlisted in the US Navy and served during WWII until being honorably discharged as a Lt. Commander on September 14, 1946. He then remained in the Naval Reserve for over 25 years. Bryce continued his education at Parsons College and served as an elementary teacher in Des Moines, IA. He then attended graduate school at the University of Iowa and served as principal in Cedar Rapids before receiving his PHD in Education and becoming a professor of Education Administration at MSU in Mankato for 23 years. On May 27, 1950 he was united in marriage to Dorothy DeGroot in Cedar Rapids. He was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church, the church Men's Group, and Mankato Kiwanis. Bryce enjoyed computers, reading, photography, fixing anything, and church activities.
Surviving Bryce are his wife of 62 years, Dorothy of Mankato; children: Curtis of Gaithersburg MD, Carol (Ronald) Begley of St. Albans VT and Craig (Tina) of North Mankato; three grandchildren; three step grandchildren; three step great grandchildren; and siblings: Marian Cropsey of Dewitt MI and Targe (JoAnne) Lindsay of Carmichael CA. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Elizabeth.
