Fred L. Otsea, age 85, of Mankato, died Monday, January 21, 2013 at Hillcrest Health Care Center in Mankato.

Memorial Service will be 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at Bethlehem Lutheran in Mankato. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the church. Mankato Mortuary is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Ingfred "Fred" Leroy was born May 29, 1927 to Albert and Lena (Sannes) Otsea in St. James, Minnesota. Growing up he attended and graduated from St. James High School. Following his high school graduation he enlisted in the United States Army. Fred proudly served his country during the Korean War as a tank driver.

On June 5, 1954 he was united in marriage to Amelia Hoffrogge in Revere, Minnesota. This union was blessed with three children: Keith, Paula and Laura.

Fred worked for Land O Lakes, the Saint Paul Pioneer Press, and Keebler Cookie Company before starting work for PDQ Industries where he was employed for 40 years. He also worked part time for 14 years at Canterbury Downs in Shakopee, Minnesota.

Fred enjoyed being outdoors on the farm, owning and breeding horses, and hunting. He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Mankato.

Those left to cherish his memory include his children: Keith Otsea of Mankato, and Paula Paradee of Sacred Heart, Minnesota; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; other extended family and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Amelia; daughter, Laura Otsea; parents; and brother, Glen Otsea.
