Cleo was born May 20, 1925 to Albert A. and Cora E. (Johnson) Peterson in Mankato. She graduated from Mankato High School in 1943. On October 19, 1946, Cleo was united in marriage to Leonard A. Holmgren. They were blessed with two children, Bruce and Lynne. In 1981, Leonard passed away and Cleo retired in 1988. After several adventurous and joyous retirement years with her California friends, Cleo chose to return "home" and moved to North Mankato in January of 1992. Cleo was a member of Belgrade Avenue United Methodist Church; the American Legion Auxiliary (since 1938); the VFW Post 950 Auxiliary; and the Eagle's Auxiliary. She enjoyed rooting for the Vikings, Twins, Timberwolves, and The Wild. Cleo loved spending time with her family and friends, bowling, Bingo, pull tabs, playing cards and, when she was able, fishing.

Cleo is survived by her two children: Bruce Holmgren of Overland Park, KS and Crosslake, MN and Lynne (fianc" Tom Yancey) Holmgren of North Mankato; grandchildren: Cristin and Daniel Holmgren; granddog, Abby; sister, Arlene (Oris) Blegen of Hastings; former daughter-in-law, Libby Corriston; and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Cleo was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leonard; sister, Merle (Tino) Louris; and nephew and Godson, Tom Louris.
