Robert E. Lee, age 90, of Mankato, passed away on Saturday, January 5, 2013 in Mankato.
Private family services will be held at Grace Lutheran Church with burial in Minneopa Cemetery. Mankato Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.
Robert Edward was born December 21, 1922 to Robert and Annie Lee in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He grew up and attended school in Jacksonville, Florida.
On February 2, 1942 he enlisted in the United States Army. Robert served during World War II and the Korean War. He was very proud of the time he spent serving his country, especially during the Seven Campaigns including: North Africa and the Road to Rome. On September 27, 1945 he was honorably discharged.
On October 18, 1945 he was united in marriage to Marian Lund in Folkson, Georgia. This union was blessed with four children: Rebecca, Kristine, Ronald and Robert Jr.
Robert was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Mankato and the VFW. He and Marian enjoyed square dancing and spending time at their lake home. Robert and his wife spent many winters in Arizona, Nevada and Texas.
Those left to cherish his memory include his children: Rebecca Lee, Kristine Lee, Ronald Lee and Robert Lee Jr. all of Mankato; nephew, Jerry; and niece, Suzanne.
Robert was preceded in death by his wife, on May 14, 1999; and his parents.
