Robert C. Hollenbeck Jr., age 85 of North Mankato, died Friday, November 5, 2010 at his home.
Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, November 8, 2010 at Messiah Lutheran Church in North Mankato, with Rev. Jim Ahlquist officiating. Visitation will be held one hour before the service at the church. Burial will be in Clarkfield Lutheran Cemetery in Clarkfield, MN at 3 p.m. Monday with a reception to follow at the church. North Mankato Mortuary-NORTHVIEW is in charge of arrangements.
Robert C. Hollenbeck Jr. was born August 2, 1925 in rural Russell, MN to Robert and Emily (Zeuthen) Hollenbeck. He attended country schools in Russell, Cottonwood, Stony Run, and graduated in 1943 from Clarkfield High School. He joined the US Army on January 22, 1945, and was discharged November 21, 1946. On October 13, 1951, he was married to Mavis June Kittelson at Bergen Lutheran Church, rural Granite Falls. He was offered and accepted a job at the Farmers and Merchants State Bank in Clarkfield. Bob then started working for FDIC in 1957. He and Mavis moved to Mankato in October of 1975 where he continued to work for FDIC and worked in the area until his retirement in 1986. While Bob lived in Clarkfield, he was a member of American Legion Post #169. He was an active member of Messiah Lutheran Church. Bob enjoyed playing cards with the "guys" after work, reading, doing crossword puzzles, woodworking, and fishing. He loved spending time with his sons and his grandchildren.
Bob is survived by his wife, Mavis of North Mankato; two sons, Mark Hollenbeck of Granite Falls, David Hollenbeck of Nicollet; two grandsons, Zachary and Matthew of Nicollet; former daughter-in-law, Lisa and her daughter, Elizabeth (Keegan and Kohan); sister, Audrey Kalmoe of Apple Valley; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Kent; daughter, Linda; sister, Marguerite; and brother, James.
