Adaline A. Leffel, 87 of Good Thunder, passed away peacefully Friday, November 5, 2010 at Autumn Grace in Mankato.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 10, 2010 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Good Thunder with Rev. Rudolph Maurer Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Good Thunder. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m., Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at Mankato Mortuary and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be given to the Alzheimer's Association or to Autumn Grace, Mankato.
Adaline Amanda (Poppe) Leffel was born on the family farm in Good Thunder April 20, 1923 to Louise and Louis Poppe. She attended country school, St. John Lutheran School and graduated from Good Thunder High School. She was baptized, confirmed and married at St. John Lutheran Church. On January 9, 1944, Adaline married Percy Merrill Leffel. Together, they farmed in the Good Thunder and St. Clair areas until Percy's death in 1978. Farm life was precious to Adaline and she enjoyed working the land, mowing lawn and gardening. She also liked to travel and she and her family took many trips. Adaline was a member of Maple River Club, St. John's Ladies Aid, liked to bowl and was an excellent seamstress.
Adaline and Percy raised 3 daughters: Cheryl (Larry) Mitchell of Gilbert, AZ, Sheila (Randy) Veroeven of Mankato and Shari Earle of Garland, TX. Adaline had 3 grandsons: Jeffrey (Kristen) Mitchell of Albuquerque, NM, Jason (Charlie) Mitchell of Las Cruces, NM and Todd Veroeven of St. Paul. She had 3 great-granddaughters: Joey, Dylan and Reagen Mitchell. Adaline is also survived by her sister, Rosella Bartsch of Hobbs, NM, sister-in-law, Joann Leffel of Mankato and many nieces and nephews.
Adaline was preceded in death by her husband, Percy; brothers: Leslie, Erhardt, Venner and Erick Poppe and numerous sisters and brothers-in-law.
