Mass of Christian Burial for Doris J. Swanson, age 92, of Mankato will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 29, 2014, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Mankato with Rev. John Kunz officiating. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m., Friday at Mankato Mortuary and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Burial will take place following the service at Calvary Cemetery, Mankato.

Doris June was born June 25, 1921 in Cottonwood, MN to Henry and Ann (Haugness) Hubin. At the age of 8, Doris and her family moved to Mankato following the death of her father. She would eventually meet her husband, Donald Swanson while roller-skating. It was love at first sight for the couple. They would eventually be united in marriage January 3, 1942 and start their family of five children. Doris had a very creative spirit and enjoyed sharing her gift with others at craft shows. She was a very talented painter. She loved to be inventive with food; her chocolate cherry cookies will be missed at Christmas time. She spent many hours alongside her husband, whether it was building their home together or fishing on their favorite lake, Lake Winnibigoshish. Doris was a hard worker, eventually retiring at the age of 79. She was most proud of her work in the accounting field and with being a supervisor working at the Mankato Clinic in medical records.

Doris Swanson died March 23, 2014 at Laurels Peak in Mankato.

Doris will be missed by her children, Harriet (Donald) Wolff of Elysian, Lois (Dean) Vik of Mankato, Sally (Steven) Blais of Madison Lake, Dennis (Sandra) Swanson of South Haven; 17 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald; son, Samuel; great granddaughter, Livia; sisters, Janet, Hazel, Leila, and Evelyn; brother, Anthony.
