On March 20, 2014, Muriel May Klugherz gently surrendered to Gods call home. She was surrounded by family and knew she was loved.
Muriel was a strong, faith-filled woman who loved all her roles in life: wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, homemaker, sister and friend. She began her life journey on May 11, 1931, in Lake Washington Township and was raised in Saint Peter, MN by her parents Luella (Severson) and Leon Connor. She started a lifelong friendship with her siblings: Mary Lou (Connor) Hoffmann, Shirley (Connor) Felton, Keith Connor, Joanne (Connor) Leupp, and Tim Connor which later spread to their spouses and children.
In 1951 she married Hubert Klugherz of Mankato and embraced his large family. Hub and Muriel created a loving marriage and a household of children which includes Greg Klugherz (wife: Sue), Mary Winslow, Jennifer Klugherz, Dennis Klugherz (wife: Renate), and Amy Klugherz. Through her children, she was blessed with eight grandchildren: Cory (wife: Robin), Travis, Stephen (wife: Kate), Adam, Erikka, Lauren, Christopher, and Cody. Grandson Cory and his wife Robin gave her two great-grandchildren: Connor and McKenna.
Muriel was a proud aunt and godmother. She sought all opportunities to be with her family to laugh and share stories.
Muriel faced serious health challenges for 35 years, but had an unbreakable spirit, faith in God, and love of life. She showed courage and grace throughout, including the last ten years when dementia ravaged her memory. Dementia could not steal her amazing personality so she continued to charm people until the day she died. She touched many lives and left a living legacy in those who knew her. The family is grateful to all the earth angels who supported and cared for her in her final years.
She has gone to join her parents, husband Hubert and son-in-law Marv in heaven where other loved ones and friends wait to greet her.
Memorials can be earmarked for St. Johns Catholic Church and Loyola Catholic School.
The Mass of Christian burial will be on Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at 1 p.m. Visitation is one hour before the Mass which will be held at St. Johns Catholic Church in Mankato.
