Virginia M. "Gini" Shouts
Virginia Mae "Gini" Shouts, age 86 of Chandler, Arizona and formerly of Mankato, died Friday, March 14, 2014, at Chandler Regional Hospital in Chandler.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 22, 2014, at Centenary United Methodist Church, Mankato. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m., Friday at Northview " North Mankato Mortuary, 2060 Commerce Drive, North Mankato and will continue one hour before service at the church on Saturday. Interment will be in Ft. Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis. Memorials may be given to MS Society or the Humane Society.
Virginia was born September 9, 1927 to Marlon L. and Berneice E. (McCargar) Rickard in Mankato. She graduated from Mankato High School and attended Mankato State College. Gini was united in marriage to James W. "Jim" Shouts on September 2, 1945 in Minneapolis. She worked for many years at Mankato State University as a library technician. Before that Gini worked at the Holiday House and Madsen's Supervalu.
Gini was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church. Gini enjoyed playing bridge, card games, puzzles, reading, and using electronics. Gini enjoyed her family and friends at her golf community in Chandler, Arizona where she was active with church, bridge, potlucks and activities. She was a great mom and was all wrapped up in the love of her family. Gini really loved her pets and passed that love of animals on to her children and grandchildren.
Gini is survived by her four loving children, Jeanne (Ron) Domas of Mankato, Karen (Glenn) Birkemeyer of Mankato, Jerry (Cheri) Shouts of Delano and Deb (Perry) Rollings of Sartell; ten grandchildren, Jeffrey (Jennifer) Domas, Brad Domas, Lisa (special friend, Robert Morris) Bowers, Kristin (Greg) Reichard, Ryan (Alyse) Birkemeyer, Christopher (Kari Haley) Shouts, Carly (special friend, Matt Linden) Shouts, Stephanie (Cale) Sparks, Haley (special friend, Dylan Church) Rollings, and Samuel Rollings; seven great-grandchildren, Anthony Bowers, Julia, Jenna, and Jessica Domas, Bradley Shouts, Annabelle Haley, Myles Reichard, Michaela and Chelsea Morris; sister, Marion Beise of Shoreview, MN; nieces and nephews.
Gini was preceded in death by her parents; and the love of her life husband, Jim on December 6, 2006.
