Wilbur Thomas Rollings, age 87, of Garden City, died Tuesday, September 24, 2013 at Pathstone Living in Mankato.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 27, 2013 at Garden City Christian Church. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m., Thursday at Lake Crystal Mortuary and will continue one hour before at church on Friday. Burial with military honors will be in Lake Crystal Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials will be given to a local charity.
Wilbur was born April 4, 1926 to Thomas and Amelia (Schickling) Rollings in Cleveland, Minnesota. He graduated from Cleveland High School in 1943. He was united in marriage to Bonita Mae Stoll on November 20, 1953 at the Garden City Christian Church. Wilbur served his country during the Korean Conflict with the U.S. Army. Wilbur was a farmer and crop adjuster in the Garden City Area for many years. He was a very active member of the Garden City Christian Church, where he had served as Elder, Sunday School teacher, and on the church board. He enjoyed traveling and had been to many places including China, the United Kingdom, and Spain. He also was active in 4-H and enjoyed fishing, history, and gardening. He enjoyed spending time with his family.
Wilbur is survived by his wife, Bonita; six children, Kevin (Andrea) Rollings of Becker, Cherie (Roger Prestwich) Rollings of Blaine, Cathy Ellis of Chaska, Karen (Jerry) Krueger of Florence, MT, Jennifer (Andrew) Lawver of Garden City, and Emily (Samuel) DeHaven of Luck, WI; fifteen grandchildren, Garett and Shane Rollings, Isaac (Kim) Peck, Kierstan (Nic Sabatke) Peck, Madeline Peck, Matthew and Samuel Ellis, Ethan and Caitlin Krueger, Amelia, Gabriel, and Megan Lawver, Jacob, Emerson, and Samuel DeHaven; sister, Lula Fleming of Madelia; sisters-in-law, Deanna Stoll of Mankato, Joan Stoll, and Della Stoll; brother-in-law, Donald (Kathi) Stoll; and many extended family.
Wilbur was preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law, David Peck; brothers, Orville Rollings, Gene (Inez) Rollings; sisters, Beatrice (David) Lloyd, Marcella (Ernest) Hobson; sister-in-law, Marlys (Carl) Thelemann; brothers-in-law, Darrell Fleming, Roland Stoll, Robert Stoll, and Walter Stoll.
