Mary Jane Midtbruget, 87, of North Mankato died peacefully Friday, September 6, 2013 at Oaklawn Health Care Center.

Funeral Services are at Messiah Lutheran Church in North Mankato on Saturday, September 14, 2013 at 11:00 am with Pastor Bob Stover officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm on Friday, September 13, 2013 at Northview - North Mankato Mortuary. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be at Glenwood Cemetery.

Mary Jane was born November 8, 1925 to Alfred and Gina (Brudelie) Ahlness in Hanska. She graduated from Hanska in 1942. She married Robert C. Midtbruget on May 9, 1948 in Hanska. Mary worked as a school secretary in Hanska and as a desk clerk at the Best Western Garden Inn in North Mankato where she retired in 1991 after 23 years of service. Mary Jane was a charter member of Messiah Lutheran Church and she was an active church member. Mary Jane enjoyed shopping, gardening, cooking, baking and camping at Stewartfest every summer. She enjoyed her season tickets at Minnesota State University - Mankato Theatre and the family trips that she went on. Most importantly, she enjoyed all the time she spent with her family especially at Christmas to celebrate the birth of Jesus. Her sweet smile will be missed by everyone who knew and loved her.

Mary Jane is survived by her two daughters and their husbands, Melanie (Jim) Peirce and Melissa (Rick) Tellijohn; five grandchildren - Jason (Heather) Peirce, Jill (Greg) Rinzel, Jaime (Nick) Deutsch-Edwards, Justin (Jennifer) Peirce and Jacob Tellijohn; thirteen great grandchildren; two sisters Cathryn Patterson and Dorothy (Don) Fenske; sister-in-law Lois Ahlness and nieces and nephews.

Mary Jane was preceded in death by her husband Robert and her son Mark; three brothers and one sister.
