Daniel "Dan" Joseph Reuter, age 50, of rural St. Clair, died on Friday, September 6, 2013 at his home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, September 9 at 11:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in St. Clair with Rev. Robert Schneider officiating. Visitation will be on Sunday from 4-7 p.m. at the church and will continue one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery. Mankato Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Dan was born on February 18, 1963 to Karl and Delores (Goettl) Reuter. He graduated from St. Clair High School in 1981. Dan received his commercial airplane and hot air balloon flight instructor license. Dan was united in marriage to Holly Jean Gunnink on December 16, 1989. They lived on the family farm south of Mankato. He farmed and grew mostly corn and soybeans. He also raised finisher pigs for Wakefield Pork. Dan served on the Decoria Township board for ten years and helped with many fundraisers for Cystinosis. He was a member of CAP and EAA. Dan was active in the Boy Scouts while his sons, David and Shawn were involved. He went to Camp Cuyuna as both a boy scout and a parent leader. Dan was a hunter and loved being in nature. He grew to love fishing in South Dakota the last few years.
Dan is survived by his wife, Holly; four children, David, Bethany, Tresa, and Shawn; mother, Delores Reuter; siblings, Jerry (Mary) Reuter, Bob (Dianne) Reuter, Carolyn (Steve) Russell, Margaret (Dale) Janke, Karl (Kelly) Reuter, and Mary (John) Caven; mother and father-in-law, Elwin (Millie) Gunnink; sister-in-law, Heidi Wyn; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Karl.
