Bernice "Bea" Clara Thurston, age 94, of Mankato, died Thursday, August 22, 2013, at Hillcrest Health Care Center in Mankato.

Private family interment will be in Hebron Cemetery, rural Judson. Mankato Mortuary handled the arrangements. Memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.

Bea was born on April 5, 1919, in Mankato to Joseph and Mary (Schons) Mans. She was proud of her many years employed with Brett's Department Store in Mankato.

Bea is survived by her three children, Barb Magers of Lake Crystal, Ann (Robert) Erickson of Belle Plaine, and Carroll "Butch" (Lucy) Thurston of Colorado Springs, CO; seven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; siblings, Isabelle (Jim) Reasner of Mankato; two sisters-in-law, Bonnie Mans of Prior Lake and Jean Lamb of Champlin; also many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Bradley; granddaughter, Robyn Erickson; son-in-law, Michael; former husband, Carroll; four brothers, Norbert, Bernard, Joseph, and Sylvester; and two sisters, Lucy and Margaret.
