Funeral services for Loren L Storjohann, age 83 of Mankato, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 14, 2014 at Hosanna Lutheran Church in Mankato. Pastors Michael Omtvedt and Dennis Heiden will be officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday evening at the church from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and continue one hour prior to the service. Burial will be following the service at Glenwood Cemetery with full military honors provided by the Mankato American Legion. Mankato Mortuary is handling the arrangements.

Loren Louis Storjohann, passed away peacefully March 10, 2014 after a four-and-a-half month long battle with a glioblastoma brain tumor. Loren L. was born March 21, 1930 in Janesville Township on the family farm to F. John and Ida (Berndt) Storjohann. Loren attended school at Smiths Mill Country School, Trinity Lutheran School in Janesville and Janesville High School. He was united in marriage to Gertrude (Trudy) Lange October 26, 1952 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Nicollet.
In addition to his wife of 61 years, Trudy; he is survived by his children, Sherry (Michael) Sack of Mankato, Melodie (Robert) Rastedt of Stevens Point, WI, Jeffrey of Boise, ID, Bianca (Dr. David) DeLone of Rochester; grandchildren, Brittany (Brian) Crock of Mankato, Brandon (Kristin) Sack of Ham Lake, Garrett Sack of Mankato, Ryan Rastedt (Kerry Sullivan) of Chicago, IL, Logan Rastedt of Eau Claire, WI, Rachel Storjohann of Missoula, MO, Kari Storjohann of Boise, ID, Jonathan, Sarah and Peter DeLone of Rochester; great-grandsons, Aiden and Bennett Sack of Ham Lake, Caleb Crock of Mankato; brother, Ray (Sharlot) Storjohann of Janesville; five sisters-in-law, three brothers-in-law; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; one granddaughter, Adriana DeLone; two brothers, Glenn and Henry "Hank" Storjohann.
In 1950, Loren enlisted in the US Army and retired from the Army in 1973 as a Command Sgt Major. During most of his service, he served as a Paratrooper and was rated a Master Parachutist. During his service, he was stationed six years in France and Germany with his family. He also served 13 months in Vietnam with the 173rd Airborne Brigade. He was a Company First Sgt in 1st Battalion 503d Infantry and was promoted to Sgt Major and assigned to the 2nd Battalion 503d Infantry as the Sgt Major. Loren was a Life Member of the VFW, American Legion and the 173d Airborne Association.
After his military service, he worked for Cenex Cooperatives. He worked sales in Mankato for six years. He was general manager for 13 years in Sauk City, WI. In 1991, he retired from Cenex.
After retirement, Loren and Trudy enjoyed travelling and spending winters in Alabama on the Gulf of Mexico. In 2005, Loren and Trudy moved back to Mankato to be near the area they grew up.
