Wallene Dorothy Salfer, age 73, of North Mankato, died Thursday, November 28, 2013 at Mayo Clinic Health Systems in Mankato.

Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 2, 2013 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Mankato with Rev. Wayne Eichstadt officiating. Burial will be in Pilgrim's Rest Cemetery in Mankato. Visitation will be held one hour before the service at the church on Monday. Northview - North Mankato Mortuary in charge of arrangements. Memorial may be given to the donor's choice.

Wallene was born June 21, 1940 to Wallace and Dorothy (Havnen) Nesheim in Rake, Iowa. She graduated from Rake High School in 1958. Wallene was united in marriage to Larry Asmus on June 28, 1959 in Rake, Iowa. After Larry's death in 1965, Wallene was later married to Gerald "Jerry" Salfer on August 7, 1990 in Mankato.

Wallene worked for the State of Minnesota for 30 years. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Mankato. Wallene took great pride in spending time with her family, grandchildren, and friends.

She is survived by her daughter, Jamie Scott of St. Cloud; step-son, Todd Salfer of Garden City; step-daughter, Jodi (Todd) Tischer of St. Cloud; two grandchildren, Lauren and Alec Schluenz; mother, Dorothy Nesheim of North Mankato; sister, Mary (John) Teigland of Hastings, MN; step grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Preceded in death by her father, husband, Larry Asmus, and second husband, Gerald Salfer.
