Snider, Howard Roy MD. A gifted physician, loving husband and father.

On Tuesday, November 12, 2013 Howard, 93, went home to be with the Lord.

Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 16, 2013 at Centenary United Methodist Church, with Rev. Michelle Hargrave officiating. A visitation will be from 4:00 " 7:00 p.m. on Friday, November 15, 2013 at the Mankato Mortuary. Private burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Elysian. Memorials are preferred to Mayo Clinic Health System Hospice, Centenary UMC, or donor's choice.

Howard was one of 3 children born to Arlo V. Snider and May Louise (Phease) Snider. He was born in Bellingham, WA on May 10, 1920.As a young man Howard worked many odd jobs. These include long-shoring, selling groceries, and dresses in a general store. He was a gandy dancer for the railroad, and labored in the fish canneries of Alaska. He often shared these stories and adventures with family and friends.
Howard graduated from Pre-medical School in 1942, and entered the Marines, trained as a pilot flying B-25s Pacific Combat in WWII. Throughout his four year career in the marines he earned the Distinguished Flying Cross medal along with three other flying medals. After returning from WWII Howard was accepted into the University of Oregon Medical School where he graduated in 1950.

From 1950-1955, Howard practiced medicine at Minneapolis General Hospital fulfilling his internship and 4 years of Surgical Residency. Howard went on to practice surgery at the Mankato Clinic for 34 years. His kind disposition, patient nature, and vast knowledge earned him the respect of employees, fellow colleagues, and patients alike. Howard's medical society memberships include the Diplomatic American Board of Surgery as well as the Fellow American College of Surgeons.
Howard enjoyed many days on the course at the Mankato Golf Club, where he was a member since 1955.

Howard had marriages to Margaret (Hilton) Snider, and Marilyn (Skillman) Snider (dec). It was after these that he married the love of his life Patricia (Hebl) Grubish of Mankato. They thoroughly enjoyed their 30 years of marriage, filling their time with family and their dear friends.

Howard's children are many and include his daughters, Michelle Snider, Fort Collins CO, and Vickie(Snider) Luccio (Gary), Chandler, AZ. along with Cindy (Grubish) Brokob (Bill) of Crystal Lake, IL. Tom Grubish (Janet) of North Richland Hills,TX. Lori Grubish (Richard Kimes) of Mount Juliet, TN. Jodi (Skillman) Butzer(Todd) of Vadnais Heights, MN. Bo Skillman( Julie) of Prior Lake, MN. Howard has many grandchildren who he was always quick to brag on.

He was preceded in death by his son Gary Snider, his parents, and his siblings.

Howard lead a long full life of love, and laughter. He will be missed by all.
