Marion Elizabeth Hewitt, age 89, of rural North Mankato, died Thursday, November 7, 2013, at Crystal Seasons Living Community in Lake Crystal.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, November 12, 2013, at Belgrade Avenue United Methodist Church in North Mankato, with Rev. Dan Horn officiating. Interment in Minneopa Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. on Monday at Northview " North Mankato Mortuary, 2060 Commerce Drive, and continues one hour before the service at the church on Tuesday. Memorials are preferred to Belgrade Avenue United Methodist Church or Mayo Clinic Health System " Mankato Hospice.
Marion was born on June 29, 1924, in Cambria Township, Blue Earth County. She was the daughter of Wallace and Florence (Espenson) Harris. Marion was a graduate of New Ulm High School. She was united in marriage to Owen G. "Spud" Hewitt on December 29, 1943, in Cambria. Marion assisted Owen with their farms in Lake Crystal and Cambria before moving to their farm of over 60 years in rural North Mankato. She also was a seamstress with Fisher Clothing in Mankato. Marion was a member of Belgrade Ave. United Methodist Church in North Mankato. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, cross-stitching, gardening, playing Scrabble, and time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Marion is survived by her four daughters, Betty Hewitt of Littleton, CO, Jean (John) DeZeeuw of Burtrum, Donna Fjoser of North Mankato, and Barbara Larson of Mankato; two sons, Douglas (Donna) Hewitt of rural North Mankato and Bruce (Mary) Hewitt of rural North Mankato; thirteen grandchildren, Christine and Catherine Nelson, Melissa (Kelly) Hesch, Mari (Eric) Schultz, Jessica and Gregory Hewitt, Andrew, Sarah and Benjamin Fjoser, Chad and Tyler Hewitt, Adam (Crystal) Longhenry, and Ryan Longhenry; thirteen great-grandchildren, Hailey, Breeanna, Austin, Kierstyn, Drew, and T.J. Fjoser, Gavin and Landon Sellner; Tanner and Addysen Longhenry, Keeley Longhenry, Grady Hesch, and Cameron Hewitt; sister, Margaret Heinsohn of Two Rivers, WI; nephews, nieces, and cousins; and a brother-in-law, Lester Hewitt of North Mankato.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Owen in 2004; and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
