James Lee Friedrichs, age 71, of Mankato died Thursday, November 7, 2013, at his home surrounded by his family.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Mankato, MN. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m., Monday at Mankato Mortuary and will continue one hour before service at church on Tuesday. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Mankato.

James was born February 7, 1942 to William and Annie (Weingartz) Friedrichs at his family's home in Mankato. He graduated from Loyola High School in 1960. Jim owned his own business "Kato Carpet Service" for the past 50 years, retiring to a consultant position for Independent Paint and Flooring for the past 5 years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, putting puzzles together, and sports, especially the MN Twins and the Green Bay Packers.

Jim is survived by his fianc", Mary Mensing of Mankato; his three children, Teresa (Scott) Schulz of Hastings, NE, Dan (Calleen) Friedrichs of Eden Prairie, and Ernie (Kristie) Friedrichs of Eden Prairie, MN; son-in-law, Terry Goettl of Mankato; eight grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; seven siblings, Duane (Sue) Friedrichs of Missoula, MT, Jack (Charlene) Friedrichs of St. Peter, Charles (Bonnie) Friedrichs of North Mankato, Carol (Jim) Brickson of La Crosse, WI, Karen (Noel) Williams of Elysian, Betty Davis of Missoula, MT, Diane (Bob) Stocker of Cleveland; sister-in-law, Dixie Friedrichs of Missoula, MT, and Barb (Fallenstein) Friedrichs, mother of his children; and many extended family.

Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Kathy (Hoehn) Friedrichs; his parents; daughter, Debbie Goettl; three brothers, Kenneth Friedrichs, Gary Friedrichs, and Bill Friedrichs; brother-in-law, Bud Davis; sister-in-law, Mary Kopp.
