Elmer Walter Sohre, age 98, of Good Thunder, passed away on Thursday, October 31, 2013 at Mayo Clinic Health System, Mankato.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 4 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Good Thunder with Rev. Rudolph H. Maurer Jr. officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Good Thunder. Mankato Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements.

Elmer was born on August 2, 1915 in Good Thunder to Arthur and Martha (Tischer) Sohre. On May 29, 1945 Elmer was united in marriage to Lela Bunde at St. John Lutheran Church in Good Thunder. He farmed in rural Good Thunder for many years. Elmer enjoyed fishing, wood working, watching the Vikings, and reading the newspaper. He loved morning coffee and spending time with his family. He was proud of his cap collection. Elmer will be remembered for his good sense of humor.

Elmer is survived by his wife, Lela; five sons, Royce (Claudia), Dennis (Myra), David (Mary Sue), Gary (Jackie), and Donald (Laurinda); 18 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; siblings, Elverna (Elmer) Schimmele, LeRoy (Arladene) Sohre, and Glen (Marianne) Sohre; two sisters-in-law, Eunice Bunde and Joan Bunde; and many nieces and nephews.

Elmer was preceded in death by brothers, Lester and Merlin; sister, Viona Holtz; granddaughter, Lori O'Neil; and great-granddaughter, Ellyson Sohre.
