Laurina Bertha Bunde, age 93, of Good Thunder, went home to her Lord, with her family present on Monday, October 28, 2013 at Oaklawn Health Care Center, Mankato.

A Celebration of Laurina's Life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 2, 2013 at St. John Lutheran Church, Good Thunder, with Rev. Rudolph H. Maurer, Jr. officiating. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m., Friday at Mankato Mortuary and will continue one hour before service at the church on Saturday. Burial will be in St. John Lutheran Cemetery, rural Good Thunder. Memorials may be given to an organization of the donor's choice.

Laurina was born April 29, 1920 in Rapidan Township, Blue Earth County to Bernhardt and Ida (Bartsch) Birr. She was baptized on May 30, 1920 and was confirmed on March 25, 1934 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Good Thunder. On April 11, 1940, she married Edwin H. Bunde in Good Thunder. They purchased their first farm in 1954 near Good Thunder, where they raised their four children, Alan, Karen, Carol, and Ken.

Laurina was a lifelong member of St. John Lutheran Church, where she served as vice chair and President and was very active in the Ladies Aid. As a volunteer she assisted people with their therapy at Immanuel Hospital, cared for family members in her own home, and visited shut ins at their homes and in area care facilities. She was also active in Home Extension and Log Cabin board. Laurina is known for her exceptional crocheting of table cloths, center pieces, adult, and baby afghans. She also enjoyed gardening, fishing trips up north, and helping combine the crops. This was the first harvest she did not get to combine the corn.

Laurina's family includes her four children, Alan Bunde and wife, Lynda of Good Thunder, Karen Megaw and husband, Ken of Spring Grove, IL, Carol Novack and husband, Ken of St. Paul, Ken Bunde and wife, Karen of Good Thunder; ten grandchildren, Thea (Jeff), Tara (Tom), Tami (Jon), Shawn (Dana), Scott, Ken Jr. (Beth), Don (Kristi), Bryan (Mindy), Kory (Sandy), and Kara (Alex); fourteen great-grandchildren, Jada (Brian), Dakota, Olivia, Grace, Elizabeth, Maxwell, Sarah, Jacob, Andrew, Chaz, Taylor, Bryan, Payton, and Dawson; three great-great grandchildren, Garrett, Parker, and Alayna; two brothers, Arno Birr and wife, Marion, Walter Birr and wife, Louise; in-laws, Lela Sohre and husband, Elmer, Joan Bunde, Eunice Bunde; many nieces and nephews and their families.

Preceding Laurina in death were her parents, Bernhard and Ida Birr; husband, Edwin Bunde; parents-in-law, Frank and Marie Bunde; in-laws, Gordon and Ann Bunde, Emma and Frank Warnke, Ray Bunde, Walter Bunde; and two grandsons, Scott A. Bunde and baby Megaw.
