Alice Schroeder

Alice Lorraine Schroeder, 97, of North Mankato, died July 15, 2021 at Oak Terrace Assisted Living in North Mankato.

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 23, 2021 at Resurrection Lutheran Church in Mankato with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Tivoli Cemetery. The family prefers memorials be given to Resurrection Lutheran Church. Northview-North Mankato Mortuary is assisting the family.

Alice was born December 27, 1923 to Benjamin and Stella (Morrison) Kurth in Milaca, Minnesota. She graduated from St. Clair High School in 1942. On February 14, 1952, she married William Schroeder at First Christian Church in Mankato. Together, they raised one daughter, Vicki.

Alice worked as a cook at Immanuel and ISJ hospitals for over 25 years and retired from Horizon Homes in 2003. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Mankato for over 80 years and most recently Resurrection Lutheran Church. Faith was important to Alice. She was a Sunday school teacher for many years, a member of the woman’s church circle and attended bible study. In her free time, Alice enjoyed baking, cooking, reading and Birthday clubs.

Alice is survived by her daughter, Vicki (Micheal) Youngerberg of North Mankato; grandchildren, Kris (Kevin) Thooft, Traci (Dan) Murphy, and Ben (Angela) Youngerberg; nine great-grandchildren, Ashley, Allison (Tanner), Jordan, Matthew, Bailey, Cailyn, Caden, William, and Jack; one great-great-grandson, Oliver; brother, Victor (Helen) Kurth; and many nieces and nephews.  

Alice was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Bill in 1996; and sister, Gladys (Rudy) Friedrichs.
