Audrey Mae Tolzmann, age 88, lifelong resident of Mankato, died peacefully on Wednesday, April 20, 2022, at Cottagewood Senior Communities.

Visitation will be held from 4-7pm, Monday, April 25, 2022, at Mankato Mortuary, 1001 N. Riverfront Drive, Mankato. Funeral service will be 11am, Tuesday, April 26, 2022, at Grace Lutheran Church in Mankato with visitation one hour prior. Burial will follow at Belgrade Swedish Lutheran Cemetery in Belgrade Township. Livestreaming will be available at www.mankatomortuary.com.

Memorials are preferred to any of the organizations that were close to Audrey’s heart, including Disabled American Veterans (www.dav.org/donation), your local American Legion, Grace Lutheran Church, or Mayo Hospice of Mankato.

Audrey was born May 28, 1933, in Mankato to Arthur and Alma (Swenson) Vulcan. She attended one year of country school and graduated from Nicollet Public School in 1950. She graduated from Mankato State University with a major in Home Economics and minors in speech and physical education. She taught Home Economics for one year and then entered the Agricultural Extension Service as a Home Economist and Youth Leader in the 4-H program. Audrey served in Jackson and Nicollet counties. She earned her master’s degree in Adult Education at the University of Minnesota.

Audrey was united in marriage to Kenneth Tolzmann on September 20, 1958 at Grace Lutheran Church. They were blessed with a son, Kim. In her spare time, Audrey loved to volunteer. She also enjoyed gardening, sewing, and camping. Above all, she cherished time spent with her family and close friends. Audrey touched a lot of lives and will be missed by many.

Audrey was an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary and served as president of the 3rd district. She was also Unit Commander for the DAV (Disabled American Veterans) from 2003-2007. At Grace Lutheran Church, Audrey was instrumental in the quilting group, helped with weddings and funerals and volunteering at Pathstone Living. Audrey not only committed her time, she also dedicated her heart with all her involvements.

She is survived by her son, Kim (Lisa) Tolzmann of Mankato; grandchildren, Brittany (Dave) Ziegler of Memphis, TN and Dustin (Maggie McIntyre) Tolzmann of Good Thunder; great-grandsons, Xavien Ziegler and Keenan Tolzmann; honorary daughter, Ruth Klossner; brother-in-law, Curt (Raleen) Tolzmann of Cleveland; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Audrey was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kenneth in 2005; and brothers, Raymond (Juanita) Vulcan and Herbert Vulcan.
