Betty Ann Scheider

Betty Ann Scheider, age 80, passed away peacefully at The Pillars of Mankato on February 25, 2023.

Funeral service will be held at 11am, Monday, March 6, 2023 at Hosanna Lutheran Church Mankato.  Visitation will be held from 2-4pm, Sunday, March 5, 2023 at Mankato Mortuary and will continue one hour before the service at the church on Monday. Burial will be at St. John Lutheran Cemetery, Good Thunder at a later date. 

Born June 29, 1942, to Walter and Anna Yaeger, at Immanuel Hospital, Mankato, Minnesota. She was baptized July 26, 1942, and confirmed May 20, 1956, at St. John Lutheran Church Rapidan, Minnesota.  She graduated from Rapidan High School in 1960 and went on to graduate from Bethesda Lutheran Hospital, School of Practical Nursing in August 1961. She married Ronald Scheider at St. John Lutheran Church, Rapidan on December 16, 1961.

She worked 52 years as a nurse:  Immanuel Hospital (Mankato) from 1961-1963; for Drs. Engstrom and Matthews from 1963-1988; and finished her career at Mankato Clinic from 1988-2013.  Throughout her life, she also played organ at St. John Lutheran Churches of Rapidan and Good Thunder; taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School; and volunteered at VINE and Mayo Hospital.

Survived by her husband, Ronald; daughters, Julie (Dan Madigan) of St. Paul, MN and Jill (Mike Kelby) of Balsam Lake, WI; and nieces and nephew, Carrie (Yaeger) Ellington, Cindy (Yaeger) Slater, Linda (Keller) Dickey, Susan (Keller) St. Ores, and Richard Keller.

Preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Anna Yaeger; brother and wife, Clifford and Collen Yaeger; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jim and Anita Keller; as well as aunts and uncles.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be given to Hosanna Lutheran Church of Mankato, Mayo Hospice, VINE Faith in Action, or the Blue Earth Nicollet County Humane Society.

The family would like to thank the staff of The Pillars of Mankato and Moments Hospice for all the wonderful care they have given Betty.
