Betty V. Steffl age 95, passed away on January 11, 2022, at Oak Terrace, North Mankato.

She was born in Minneapolis, MN. Betty was a graduate of Keister High School and Mankato Commercial College. She enjoyed her career as a bookkeeper taking time off to raise her children.

During her long life, she was a member and charter member of St. Peter and Paul’s and St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, respectively. She dedicated herself to volunteer and guild activities.

Betty loved to sew, collect recipes, cook, bake and was an avid gardener, who tended her flowers and harvested her vegetables in Mankato and at lake Mary in Douglas County. She took pleasure in her friendships and in caring for her family and was a warm, thoughtful, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother “Great Betty”.

Betty is survived by two sons, Joseph (Christine) Steffl, Mankato and James (Margo Dietz) Steffl, Mankato; daughter, Virginia Steffl, Woodbury; daughter-in-law, Tiss Underdahl, Duluth; three grandchildren, Jay (Katie) Steffl, Jack (Kendra) Steffl, and Naomi (John) Armendariz; five great grandchildren, Emerie and James Steffl, Sebastian Armendariz, Eddison and Lena Steffl.

 Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Ray; daughter-in-law, Cindy (Kruse) Steffl; grandson, Timothy Steffl; and son, John Steffl.

A private family service will be held at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, followed by burial at Calvary Cemetery.  

The family would like to thank our friends, relatives, and the staff of Oak Terrace for their kindness and prayers.
