Bruce “Abe” Allen Abraham, 71, found eternal rest on May 21, 2024.

Visitation will be held from 4-6pm, Friday, May 24, 2024 at Northview – North Mankato Mortuary. Funeral service will begin at 11am, Saturday, May 25, 2024 at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, North Mankato with visitation one hour prior to the service. Bruce was born on July 22, 1952, to William Frederick Abraham and Erma Elizabeth (Miller) Abraham in Hazen, North Dakota. He spent his elementary and high school years in Owatonna, Minnesota. He graduated from Owatonna High School in 1970. Growing up, he loved playing hockey and was a talented goalie. He served in the U.S. Army from 1973 to 1975 in Germany.

He attended South Central Technical College, where he studied sales and marketing and machinist trades. This led him to a decades-long career as a small business owner and automotive mechanic. He established his own business, AB Wheel Estate, after graduating. Throughout his life, he pursued his love of restoring classic Corvettes. Some of his favorite memories involved participating in the Corvette Club and attending classic car shows.

In 1978, he met Vicki Ann (Esch) Abraham. They married on June 25, 1982 at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in North Mankato, where they have been members ever since. During their marriage, Bruce and Vicki welcomed two children, Heather Renee Abraham in 1982, and Michael Lee Abraham in 1984.

Bruce had a larger-than-life personality. He was sociable and never met a person he didn’t want to talk to. He always had a good punch line ready, as well as lively stories and an enthusiasm for fast cars. One of his hobbies was working on the pit crew for Vern Moats, one of the longest-tenured Top Alcohol Funny Car drivers. He never wanted to miss a National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) event. He also loved swimming. He swam nearly every morning, preferably outdoors when the Minnesota weather cooperated.

Bruce is survived by his loving wife, Vicki; daughter, Heather Abraham, and son, Michael Abraham; his brothers and their spouses, Harold and Carol Abraham, Jan Abraham, Jack and Lois Weikel, Leslie and Shirley Abraham, Curt and Georgiana Abraham, Warren and Connie Abraham, and Dennis Abraham; as well as many nieces, nephews, and close friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Erma Abraham; and his brother Lyle Abraham.

In memory of Bruce’s years of coaching his son’s baseball team, the family has requested that memorial donations be sent to Mankato Area Youth Baseball (MAYBA), 1925 Haughton Avenue, North Mankato, MN. For additional donation information, please contact MAYBA Coordinator Rene Maes, Jr. at (507) 995-6910 or rmaesjr@gmail.com
