Catherine L. Anderson

Catherine L. Anderson, age 88, died Friday, September 30, 2022 at Hillcrest Health Care Center in Mankato.

Graveside service 2 p.m. Friday at Hillcrest Cemetery in Albert Lea. Memorials are preferred to Hillcrest Health Care Center or to an organization of the donor's choice. Mankato Mortuary assisting with arrangements.

Catherine Louise was born on April 7, 1934 in Albert Lea, Minnesota to Melvin John and Jeannette Louella (Jordahl) Brekke. She attended Freeborn High School and Bethany High School in Mankato and graduated with honors from Freeborn High School.

She married Leslie Anderson and was later divorced.

Catherine had lived in Cleveland, Rochester, St. Peter, and Albert Lea, before making Mankato her home in 2005. Catherine had a strong faith, sang for funerals, and was active in her residential community churches. She was a supporter of education and a proponent of the arts. She had been a member of home extension groups, loved crafts, flowers, and music.

Surviving Catherine are her three children, Kenneth Anderson and wife, Sherri of Chaska, Jeannette Nelson and husband, Kevin of Cleveland, Jane Fazer and husband, Dave of Clintonville, Wisconsin; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Marilyn Gillette of Grand Rapids, Michigan; nephew, Matthew Gillette and wife, Nikki of Grand Rapids, Michigan; and many cousins.

Catherine was preceded in death by her parents, an infant son, Robert Anderson in 1954, and brother, Richard Brekke in 2018, brother-in-law, Terry Gillette in 2010.

Catherine was a very detailed, kind, and giving person. She will be missed. The family would like to thank the staff at Hillcrest Health Care Center and Mayo Hospice for their loving care provided to Catherine.
