Charles William Waters

Charles William Waters, 69, of Mankato, passed away October 3, 2021 at his home.

A memorial service will be 2:00 p.m., Sunday, October 10, 2021 at Northview-North Mankato Mortuary, 2060 Commerce Drive, in North Mankato with visitation one hour prior to the service.

Charles was born May 6, 1952 to Delmar and Evelyn Joyce Waters in Rapid City, South Dakota. In 1972, Charles was drafted into the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era. He was honorably discharged in 1974 and used the GI Bill to attend college. He attended Casper Jr. College and completed his doctorate in Mathematics at the University of Wyoming. His specialty was Real Analysis and Matrix Theory where he completed extensive research.  He started teaching at Mankato State University in 1984 and was the department head for many years until his retirement in 2018.

Charles was determined, hardworking, and generous. There wasn’t anything he couldn’t fix or build.

Charles is survived by his companion of 35 years, Brenda; his best buddy, Peanut; Brenda’s daughter, Nicole (Jim) and their children, Greta, Alice, and Raymond; his sisters, Mary and Tina; brother, Gail; many nieces and nephews; and good colleagues and friends.
