Curtis Luke Eichers of Mankato passed away on Saturday, December 25, 2021 at the age of 87. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 4, 2022 at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Mankato. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. service at the church. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery on a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Loyola Catholic Schools. Curt was born on July 29, 1934 to Aloys Michael and Pauline (Nusser) Eichers. He graduated from Loyola High School in 1952 and went on to attend college at Mankato State College. He was also a proud Marine, having served as a sergeant in the Marine Corps for two years where he earned a National Defense Service Medal. Curt was later united in marriage to Janet Hiniker on June 13, 1959. Curt enjoyed bowling, fishing, and traveling up north. Curt is survived by his wife of 62 years, Janet Eichers; son Greg Eichers; daughters Diane (Eric) Evander and Susan (Mike) Deegan; son Mike (Donna) Eichers; and 10 beloved grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Curt was preceded in death by his father Aloys and mother Pauline; mother and father-in-law Rachel and Leo Hiniker; brother Delton Eichers; brother Al “Bud” Eichers and his wife Joan; sister Mary (Hank) Lilien; infant sons Daniel and Gary Eichers; and great-grandson Isaac McQuillan.
