Danny Joe Cavett, age 79, of Mankato, MN, passed away on December 26, 2021 after a 25+ year battle with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) and further complications exacerbated by a recent battle with COVID. A celebration of life will be held at later date. Northview – North Mankato Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Danny was born on November 11, 1942 to Richard and Dorothy Cavett at their farm in rural Colchester, Illinois. After graduating from high school in Colchester, IL in 1960 he enlisted in the United States Army, attended diesel mechanics training in Fort Belvoir, VA and was stationed in Furth/Nuremberg, West Germany 1961-1963 where his squad was assigned to maintain the diesel generators at missile silos.
After returning home from the service, Danny married his high school sweetheart, Cora Irene Douglas, on December 22, 1963 at Colchester United Methodist Church in Colchester, IL.
Danny spent most of his career work as an installer and later as a supervisor of telephone switching equipment in phone offices around the upper Midwest and West.
Danny is survived by his wife Cora; his two sons, Christopher (Karen) Cavett of Mankato, MN, Jason Cavett, of Cochise, AZ; grandsons, Ben Cavett & Kyle Cavett, and sister, Barbara (Mike) Parker of Colchester, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Larry, Carrol and David.
