Darlene A. Dumke

Darlene Ann Dumke, age 90, of Mankato, died Wednesday, April 27, 2022, at Birchwood Cottages, North Mankato.

Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, May 2, 2022, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Mankato. Visitation will be one hour before service at the church on Monday.  Private Interment will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Mankato. Mankato Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to an organization of your choice.

Darlene was born May 6, 1931, to Clayton and Wilma (Rollings) Childs on her grandparent’s Rollings farm, rural Lake Crystal.  She graduated from Lake Crystal High School in 1949 and then Mankato Teachers College.  She taught 4^th grade in Lynd, Truman, and Garden City, MN. 

Darlene married Dwight Dumke at Zion Lutheran Church, Lake Crystal on June 26, 1954.  She enjoyed fishing, camping, watching the MN Twins, and she thoroughly enjoyed her annual garage sales.  She cherished time with her family and friends, especially her time with grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Darlene is survived by two sons, Steve (Chris) Dumke and Paul Dumke and special friend, Karen Kelly all of Mankato; three grandchildren, Kelsey (Geoff) Mead, Kevin (Heather) Dumke, and Nick (Joey) Dumke; six great-grandchildren, Lily and Layla Mead, Cameron and Cooper Dumke, Alexis and Logan Dumke; brother, Dean (Esther) Childs of Redwood Falls; sister-in-law, Jean Childs of Lake Crystal; several nieces and nephews.

Darlene was preceded in death by parents; husband, Dwight in 1993; brother, Stan Childs; sister, Maxine (Edmund) Cutler; and daughter-in-law, Wendy in 1994.
