Darlene Ann Lutter, age 90, of Eagle Lake, died on hospice care on Friday, May 22, 2020 at Laurels Peak Rehabilitation Center in Mankato.

 

Darlene was born August 17, 1929 in Little Rock, IA to Dick and Emma (Dreesen) Boom. In 1938, their family moved to Reading, MN where they bought a farm. Darlene graduated from Worthington High School in 1947. While attending beauty school, Darlene was introduced to Oscar Lutter and they were joined in marriage on May 23, 1948. As newlyweds, Darlene and Oscar bought a farm in Eagle Lake and lived briefly in Madelia before returning to Eagle Lake, a community they considered home for the rest of their lives.

 

Darlene was a hardworking woman. She raised eleven children while also working outside the home full-time and helping on the farm. She loved flower and vegetable gardening and was able to freeze and can corn, tomatoes, and beans. Darlene was also a cut throat card player and loved playing Pfeiffer, Uno, and hearts with friends and family.


Darlene is survived by her children, Sylvia Runge of Mankato, Diana Lutter of Mankato, Mike Lutter of Eagle Lake, Jeanie (Michael) Taylor of Colorado Springs, CO, Richard Lutter of Mankato, Paul (Sheryl) Lutter of Janesville, Kim (Gary) Mosher of Detroit Lakes, Lisa Reyes of Colorado Springs, CO, LaVon Winslow of North Mankato, and Jeff Lutter of Eagle Lake; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers, Donald (Sharyl) Boom and Harlan (Mary Ann) Boom of Fulda; and sister-in-law, Edith Boom.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dick and Emma Boom; husband, Oscar Lutter; son, David Lutter; and brother, Eldon Boom.
