Daryl Ray Olson

Daryl Ray Olson, age 76, of Mankato, died on October 23, 2021 at his home. 

A Memorial Service will be held on November 19 at 1:00 p.m. at Mankato Mortuary (1001 N. Riverfront Dr.).  

Daryl was born on March 16, 1945 in Albert Lea to G. Wilford and Ruby (Doppelhammer) Olson.  He graduated from Kiester High School in 1963.  Daryl attended Iowa State University before being drafted into the United States Army.  He served in the United States Army from 1967-1969 during the Vietnam War.  Daryl loved nature, planting and caring for flowers, feeding the birds, going for long walks, riding bike, and spending time by the water.  He enjoyed reading and writing poetry.  Daryl was always helping others in need. 

Daryl is survived by his children, Amy Olson and Christopher Olson; brother, David (Judy) of Kanab, Utah; sisters, Elaine (Douglas) Nelson of Emmons, MN and Kathy (Ron) Rudebeck of Waverly, IA; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Bryan.
