Delbert Lee Conrad, age 90, died, Wednesday, November 22, 2023.

 

Funeral Service 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 1, 2023, at the United Church of Mapleton. Visitation will be one hour before service at the church on Friday. Interment will be in Sterling Cemetery, rural Amboy.   

 

Memorials may be given to Sterling Cemetery.

 

Mankato Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

 

Delbert was born October 18, 1933, to Arthur G. and Clara M. (Devens) Conrad in rural Amboy.

 

Delbert graduated from Mapleton High School, studied for 2 years at Mankato State, and received his bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Engineering from Iowa State at Ames in 1955.

 

Delbert completed Officer Candidate School with OTC and served his country with the U.S. Navy as LTJG aboard the USS Huse from 1956-59 and then the Naval Reserves from 1960-63.

 

Delbert was united in marriage to Ella A. Ritter on April 3, 1965, at Temple Baptist Church in Minneapolis, MN. They farmed in Sterling Township until retiring in 2003.  

 

Delbert was a member of the United Church of Mapleton where he served as a Deacon, Trustee, and on several church boards.  He was Sterling Township Treasurer for 40 years, a board member of the Blue Earth County Soybean Growers Assoc., and a member of the Mapleton Community Home Board and the Amboy Lions Club.

 

Delbert enjoyed time with family, farming, square dancing, woodcarving, aviation, traveling, talking with people, playing and listening to music, drawing and sketching, reading and literature, history, and genealogy.

 

Delbert is survived by his daughter, Diane Conrad; son, Gerald (Brenda) Conrad; grandchildren, Devan (Danielle) Powell, Jacob Conrad, and Maredith Conrad; great-grandchildren, Ivy, Lily, Willow; brother, Ronald (Judy) Conrad; nieces, nephews, and extended family.

 

Delbert was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ella on June 20, 2023; and brother, Alan Conrad.
