Diane L. Thornburg

Diane Lee Thornburg, age 74, of Mankato and formerly of Lake Crystal, died unexpectedly, at her home in Mankato on January 17, 2022.

Diane’s Family will have a Private Celebration of Life. Interment will be in Armstrong Grove Cemetery, Armstrong, IA in the summer.

Diane was born February 26, 1947 to Carl M. and Margaret M. (McGregor) Carlson in Armstrong, IA. Diane married Dewaine Thornburg on November 18, 1967 and enjoyed 47 years of marriage. Diane worked as a nursing assistant and paraprofessional. Diane and Dewaine were foster parents for 22 years. Diane was a lifelong member of Cornerstone United Methodist Church of Lake Crystal. Diane enjoyed visiting with family and friends, watching the Minnesota Twins, thrift store shopping, and being with her dog, Lucy.

Diane is survived by daughters, Debra (Bryan) Sowers of North Mankato, Denise (Mark) Kick of Ormsby, Deann (Robert) Klinkner of North Mankato, Danica Schmidt (special friend, John Miller) of North Mankato, and son, Darin Thornburg of Mankato; grandchildren include, Bryanna, Dyllan, Collyn, Brandon, Brookelyn (Jesse), Jamie (Chris), Seth (Saundra), Michael, Andrew, Jacob, and Ellison; great-grandchildren, Asher, Averie, Cooper, Ashton, Cayden, and Harper; brother, Don (Sharon) Carlson; and extended family.

Diane was preceded into Heaven by her husband, Dewaine; parents, Carl and Margaret Carlson; brother, Dick; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Thomas and Eva Thornburg.
