Dixie Lee Muellerleile

Dixie Lee Muellerleile, 90 of Mankato, passed away November 9, 2021 at The Pillars of Mankato.

Funeral Mass will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, November 16, 2021 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Mankato. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Mankato. Mankato Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements. The service will be livestreamed and available on Dixie's obituary page at www.mankatomortuary.com.

Dixie was born in Mankato, Minnesota on November 8, 1931 to Robert H. and Bonita E. (Jones) Wirig. She graduated from Good Counsel Academy in 1949 and worked as a Medical Secretary for 40 years for Dr. Robert Engstrom and Dr. Francois Hamze.

Dixie was united in marriage to Fred A. Muellerleile on September 1, 1953 at the old St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Mankato. They were blessed with one daughter, Mary Gay.

Dixie and Fred loved spending time on the Gunflint Trail and at Grand Marais, Minnesota.

Dixie was preceded in death by her husband, Fred; father, Robert Wirig; mother, Bonita “Bonnie” Wirig; and brother-in-law, Joe Hager.

She is survived by her daughter, Mary Gay (Muellerleile) Fowler; her sister, Shari Hager; grandson, Dr. Jim Fowler and wife, Dr. Jana Fowler; grandson, John Fowler and husband, Michaël Dumais; and two great granddaughters, Sarah and Elizabeth Fowler.
