Born on September 16, 1935, in Seville, Spain, to Cayetano Morente Parron and Dolores Gomez Calderon, Dolores was a woman of great spirit who faced life with grace. Her journey took a beautiful turn when she met Douglas Giefer, an Air Force serviceman, during his time in Spain. Their love blossomed, leading to a life together that was filled with devotion and family. Recently on May 3, Dolores and Douglas celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary.
Dolores was a dedicated homemaker and mother, pouring her heart into her family and nurturing them with her love, culinary talents, and her gift for embroidery. She took pride in creating a warm and inviting home, where laughter and love thrived. She was an enthusiastic, devoted Vikings fan and loved eating at her favorite restaurant, Pappageorge in Mankato.
Dolores is survived by her beloved husband, Douglas Giefer of New Ulm; her cherished children, Robert (Kristine) Giefer II of Alexandria, Maria (Todd) Giefer-Olsen of Albuquerque, NM, Jerry (Renee) Giefer of Windom, Michael Giefer of Roseville, Pamela Giefer of Vadnais Heights, and Mark Giefer of New Ulm. Dolores will also be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, Kyle Olsen, Derek Olsen, and Brady Ysker-Giefer.
Dolores is preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, and her infant son, Robert Giefer.
As her family gathers to honor her memory, they will hold her close in their hearts, celebrating a life filled with love, warmth, and cherished moments.
