Donna Helen (Deitering) Chalhoub, of Mankato, MN lovingly known to all as “Aunt Donna,” passed away peacefully on Monday, August 25, 2025, at the age of 88.
Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, August 29, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Visitation will be Friday from 10:00-11:00 a.m., prior to the service at church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Born in Swea City, Iowa, Donna grew up with a strong sense of family and an elegance that stayed with her throughout her life.
She married the love of her life, Victor Chalhoub, and together they shared over 50 wonderful years of marriage. Though they did not have children of their own, Donna poured her love into her family and friend. She became like a second mother to many, especially to her niece Najwa Massad and nephew Tony Chalhoub. Donna had the incredible ability to be a steady, caring presence to all who knew her and anyone who had the pleasure of knowing her knew how blessed they were. Donna worked for many years at Mankato Citizen’s Telephone Company (MCTC), beginning at the switchboard, and enjoyed a long and fulfilling career there until she retired in 1999. Outside of work, she was known for her strong faith, impeccable style, perfectly manicured nails, signature heels, and the grace she carried everywhere she went.
Donna will be deeply missed by her family, including siblings Diane (Carlyle) Peterson, Joseph (Kathleen) Deitering, Louise (David) Hennessy, Evelyn Deitering, Jerome (Pamela) Deitering, including nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and by all whose lives were brightened by her kindness and love.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Victor; her parents, Arnold and Helen Deitering, step mother - Josephine Neumann and siblings, John Deitering (Karen, living), Cyril (Cheryl) Deitering, Elizabeth (Tod) Simpson, Dennis (Patricia) Deitering, Rebecca (Jerry) Crimmins, and Frank (Holly, living) Deitering
Aunt Donna’s elegance, strength, and devotion to her family will live on forever in the hearts of those who loved her.
