Doris Ann Preston

Doris Ann Preston, age 94, of Mankato passed away on Thursday, November 2, 2023.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, November 9, 2023, at Zion Lutheran Church, Lake Crystal with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Medo-McPherson Cemetery. Memorials preferred to Zion Lutheran Church, or to donor’s choice. Livestreaming will be available at www.mankatomortuary.com

Doris was born on October 31, 1929, at home to Walter and Myrtle (Johnson) Stevens. She went to country school and then graduated from Bingham Lake High School in 1947. Doris spent a year at Mankato Commercial College and received a certificate for secretarial work. Doris worked at Thompson Land Office in Windom from August 1948-September 1952, and then in 1968 became the church secretary at Zion Lutheran Church in Lake Crystal for 28 years.

Doris married Glenn Ralph Preston at the Methodist Church in Bingham Lake, MN on October 11, 1952. Together the two of them moved to a farm outside of Janesville, MN, and then later moved to a farm site west of Lake Crystal, MN. In 2015 she moved to Mankato.

Doris enjoyed traveling, gardening, embroidering, and most importantly being a grandma, and great grandma.

Doris is survived by her children, Miles Preston, Norman (Koni) Preston, Steven Preston, and Karen (Bob) Rezin; grandchildren, Marcus Preston, Danielle (Marcus) Piepho, Nicole Rezin, and Kristen Rezin; great-grandchildren, Henry, Amelia, Riley, and Eloise Piepho; siblings, Gerald Stevens, Darrel (Joyce) Stevens, Maxine (Arvid) Berge, Ronald (Karen) Stevens, Neva (Richard) Pilgrim, Larry (Becky) Stevens, Carol (Bill Kay) Stevens, and Roger (Belinda) Stevens, as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn, and her parents, Walter and Myrtle Stevens.
